Enhancing product discovery & app navigation
Identifying the Problem
Shopping for eyewear online comes with unique challenges. Users need an easy way to explore, compare, and understand products before making a purchase. However, the app faced several key issues that made this process difficult, leading to lower engagement and conversions.
Defining the Goal
Our goal was to reimagine the app experience with a product-first approach—one that clearly communicates the value of each product or collection, creates a visually immersive interface, and helps users explore with ease. We planned to achieve this with:
Research & Key Findings
To understand pain points in browsing and product discovery, we conducted qualitative and quantitative research:
User Interviews with recent customers (within 30–60 days of purchase), Click-Through Rate Analysis of homepage widgets, Collaborated with PMs to identify underperforming sections and user patterns
Navigation Structure
Small, dense widgets overloaded the user with choices
Poor categorisation & hierarchy made browsing inefficient
Lack of personalisation- users had to navigate manually
Interaction Patterns
Horizontal scrolls had low engagement
Larger, bolder widgets outperformed others
Engaged users scrolled deeper into the page with intent
Unclear product value & USP confused users
Lack of visual storytelling around products made discovery harder
Brand terms didn’t align with user search behaviour
Design Process
We approached this redesign feature by feature—prioritizing high-impact areas that could immediately improve discovery, engagement, and user understanding. Each module was rethought from the ground up, backed by user insights and business goals. This allowed us to continuously iterate, measure, and refine the experience without overhauling the entire app at once.
Pre Home: Start Screen
FEATURE 3
As features were added, we introduced a focused entry screen to guide users based on intent —browsing, reordering or finding deals.
Pre-Home was designed to surface relevant paths to align with user intent and enable personalised content to add structure to the journey and improve discoverability.
Phase 1
Phase 2
Each modular intervention—Reels, Stories, Tabs and Pre-Home—was a step toward reimagining the homepage. By observing user behaviour and layering features, we evolved the layout and hierarchy to reduce cognitive load, improve relevance, and guide users more intuitively through the app.
